Design:

Toshiba Satellite L350-214 laptop Notebook looks unimpressive and has same old boring design when compared to various other brands of 17 inch notebook. It still has that consolidated dry style with lid and chassis fully made with dark grey colour and there is no blue LED light or some other sophisticated plastic case to impress. This Toshiba notebook cannot be used while on go and it is large and weighs nearly 3.15 kg. The closing lid has fair amount of wobbling and comfortably moved across with plenty of flexibility. This large sized notebook is best suited for desktop placement and with the help of four large rubber feet it can be nicely sits on the desktop. It cannot be placed on uneven surface because bottom air intake has to have more opening to dissipate the heat.

Keypad of Satellite L350-214:

Toshiba Satellite L350-214 Notebook has full sized keypad with dedicated numerical keys. It has enough room for wrist rest and allows you to give easy typing position. It seems like a low grade keypads when you press the keys and not responsive enough for soft key strokes. There is enough space between main keypads, function keys and numeric keys, which normally not found in other branded 17 inch notebook were you could find only some cramped keys.

Screen:

This Toshiba L350-214 notebook is mainly highlighted for its large 17 inch screen size that display brighter image with clear picture. The screen has 1440 x 900 resolution and it seems to be small resolution for such a big screen. Fair amount of contrast level is maintained in dark scenes but on screen gloss finish cannot avoid image reflection.

Audio speakers:

Two small speakers are placed on either side at the bottom of the screen. It performs well for normal sound, which Windows generate and you can watch movies and listen to your sound track in a considerable manner. The sound control is provided by rotary wheel placed at the front of the notebook. This rotary wheel volume controller does not have an end and does not come out with any visual representation on how much volume is set. You cannot come to the judgement until you hear the sound.

Internal Components:

Toshiba Satellite L350-214 17″ Notebook Laptop PC is made with dual core AMD Athlon X2 Ql-65 processor with 2.1GHz, which is capable of delivering required computing speed on the desktop. The dual core processor speed is minimal when compared with core 2 Duo processor. With 2.1 GHz capacity, this AMD processor is acceptable for office and home usage for maintaining office documents & reports, surfing and watching movies. AMD Athlon X2 Ql-65 processor is offered for budget type notebooks and suitable for normal computing task. This 17 inch notebook has ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics chip, which is capable enough for limited graphical tasks but not suitable for 3D games. You can work with high resolution image editing and this graphic chip is suitable for displaying all colour themes without any image distortion.

Battery:

This L350-214 large sized notebook is equipped with lithium-ion batteries and it gives approximately 1 hour 45 minutes battery life. It is not intended to carry while on go and if you use this notebook for just reading documents then the battery will last for 2 hours and 40 minutes. The extra battery life would be useful for surfing internet and doing research.

Verdict:

Toshiba Satellite L350-214 17 Inch Notebook is a budget buy and a good option for desktop computer replacement. With 2 GB of RAM and 250 GB of hard drive space, this Toshiba Satellite notebook is best suited for office work. Though it has low grade built and moderate quality, it is highlighted for large screen size and large spaced main keypads.
